A few days ago Massimo Bottura, twice winner of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, opened his new restaurant inside the Hotel W The Palm in Dubai in the exclusive Marriott group resort. Needless to say, the opening immediately sold out.
1960s style, pastel colors and a Fellini style atmosphere were the chef’s choice with three Michelin stars for a new venue “where everything is sophisticated and social, but relaxed”. The cabins on the beach have even been recreated, as well as the pedal-boat picnic and the ice-cream cart to relive the suggestion of the long Romagna seaside in a vintage key.
In the kitchen, Bottura brings back the flavors of Romagna with Chef Bernardo Paladin, for a mix of typically Mediterranean flavors and exotic flavors typical of the Orient.
The name of the restaurant has aroused great curiosity and many have wondered what the chef was inspired by. The answer is to be found in the title of a work by Maurizio Cattelan from 1989, a sort of happening that consecrated the artist: when the Neon Gallery in Bologna invited him to exhibit, Cattelan was overwhelmed by a great indecision, until he decided to leave the gallery so empty, with the sign “Torno subito (I’ll be right back)” hanging on the front door.
For those who will soon be in the enchanting city of the United Arab Emirates we suggest to try the experience of reliving the past of the Riviera … booking with a very large advance!
